From QS Burnout to Blogging Mompreneur

How I Rebuilt My Life One Post at a Time

Let’s get one thing straight—burnout isn’t just feeling tired. It’s when your soul starts whispering, “This isn’t it,” and no amount of coffee or motivational quotes can quiet it.

For me, that whisper came after 19 years of being a Quantity Surveyor. I was managing projects, chasing deadlines, juggling meetings, and somehow still showing up as a mom of two. On the outside? I looked like I had it all together. On the inside? I was holding it together with bubblegum, late nights, and unspoken tears.

The Breaking Point (AKA The Wake-Up Call)

There wasn’t a single dramatic moment — no big fight, no major collapse. Just a slow unraveling.

I remember sitting at my desk one morning, staring blankly at a spreadsheet, and thinking, “Is this really how I’m going to spend the next 10 years of my life?” My brain was tired, my body was aching, and my heart? Completely disconnected from the work I used to take pride in.

That was the moment I knew: something had to shift. Not just for me, but for the little humans watching me every day.

The Shift: Trading Spreadsheets for Storytelling

I didn’t have a grand plan. I didn’t even have a fancy laptop. What I had was a quiet longing for more — more meaning, more flexibility, more time to just be with my kids. That longing turned into a blog.

At first, it was a digital journal. I wrote about motherhood, emotions, my QS journey, and the strange in-between space of being a working mom who secretly wanted to quit the rat race. It was raw, unfiltered, and deeply healing.

And something surprising happened: people started reading.

  • Moms messaged me saying, “I feel this too.”
  • Women over 40 said, “You’re saying what I’ve never had the words to express.”
  • Even fellow QS professionals whispered, “I want out too — but I’m scared.”

Blogging Became My Bridge

Blogging wasn’t just a side hobby. It became my bridge from burnout to purpose. Through it, I discovered:

  • ✅ How to turn my lived experiences into digital income
  • ✅ That affiliate marketing isn’t scammy when done with heart
  • ✅ That I could sell digital products and printables from my own chaos-to-calm journey
  • ✅ And most importantly — I could still be me… while earning, creating, and healing

The Mompreneur Life Isn’t Perfect — But It’s Mine

Let’s be honest: some days are still a mess. My Canva tabs are open next to school timetables and abandoned laundry piles. I still freelance, still write proposals, still chase after kids who act like socks are lava.

But here’s the difference: I wake up with fire, not dread.
I write with soul, not stress.
I’m building a business around my life — not sacrificing my life for a business.

Final Thoughts: If You’re There Right Now…

If you’re in that quiet burnout, silently Googling “side hustles” during lunch breaks, or crying in the car after daycare drop-off — I see you. I was you.

And I want you to know this: You don’t have to abandon everything to begin something new. You just need a sliver of courage and a WiFi connection.

Your burnout doesn’t mean you’re broken.
It means your soul is calling you somewhere else.

And if blogging is your ‘somewhere else,’ welcome. The mompreneur life isn’t easy — but it’s honest, heart-filled, and worth it.
